Factors Affecting Tendency and Adherence to Traditional Persian Medicine: A Qualitative Study

Background: Adherence to medications is crucial for them be effective. Traditional Persian Medicine (TPM) an ancient medical discipline originated from old Persia and currently used along with modern medicine in Iran. Evaluating the factors affecting adherence TPM can have far-reaching implications policymakers make informed decisions. Objectives: This qualitative study investigates tendency among Iranians. Methods: We collected data stakeholders using a focus group involving 13 participants by conducting four in-depth interviews. The saturation point was reached at 4th interview. recorded all interviews then transcribed verbatim thematic content analysis. Results: obtained 297 codes 29 sub-themes TPM, including compliance tendency. Then we extracted main themes. People’s beliefs, inherent characteristics of traditional its status quo, attempts bring about positive changes problems facing health system were TPM. Conclusions: Despite many strenuous efforts Iran lines evidence-based medicine, policymaking, financing, patients’ healthcare providers’ education, popular administrative transparency are needed addressed more adequately promote help build integrative Iran’s system.
